What is buisness deductible?
A business deductible expense is any expense that is considered ordinary, necessary, and reasonable for operating your business, as defined by the IRS. This generally means the expense must be common in your industry and helpful for running your business. Common examples include office supplies, tools, software, advertising, vehicle expenses, insurance, rent, and payroll costs.
To properly deduct a business expense, it is critical to keep clear documentation, including:
Receipts or invoices
Proof of payment (bank or credit card statements)
Vendor name, date, amount, and business purpose
Proper documentation is required in case of an IRS or state audit. Expenses that are not properly documented may be disallowed.
